Cleveland Botanical Gardens, a newly expanded & renovated structure was an intricately involved woodworking project. In the nearly thirty foot high elliptical atrium, Ailes Millwork provided maple veneered radius wall paneling with solid maple radius edging, vertical and radius horizontal bands, marquees and bay window trim. Other portions of the project that included wood paneling and cabinetry, were the lobby and adjoining areas, as well as the café and classrooms.
One of the greatest challenges for Ailes Millwork was attempting to obscure the steel in the previously installed bay windows of the atrium. Solid maple horizontal mullions, and vertical mullions of complex angles, were constructed to house the steel pipes of the saw tooth bay windows, and miscellaneous trim and removable maple stops were supplied.
The unique and impressive design of Cleveland Botanical Gardens demanded exceeding knowledge and experience in radius work, precise engineering, and accurate construction techniques. Careful planning and coordination of details between Ailes Millwork and the install team, resulted in a crowning achievement.
